Beijing, 9 May 2026 – ByteDance is reportedly increasing its planned artificial intelligence infrastructure spending for 2026 by 25% to 200 billion yuan, or about US$29.4 billion, as the TikTok owner accelerates investment in computing capacity, data infrastructure and domestic AI chips.

The company is also expected to allocate a larger portion of its budget towards domestically produced AI chips, reinforcing China’s broader push to reduce reliance on foreign semiconductor supply chains.
