Google DeepMind Partnership Gives EVE Online Maker Fresh AI Push After Management Buyout

Reykjavík, 6 May 2026 – Google DeepMind is deepening its push into video game-based artificial intelligence research through a new partnership with the company behind EVE Online, one of the world’s longest-running and most complex online role-playing games.

The collaboration comes as CCP Games, the Icelandic studio known for building the space-themed EVE Online universe, enters a new chapter under independent ownership and a new corporate identity, Fenris Creations. As part of the transition, Google has taken a minority stake in the company, giving the technology giant exposure to a gaming studio whose flagship product offers a rich environment for studying complex human behaviour, planning and long-term decision-making.
