Kuala Lumpur, 2 March 2026 – Malaysia’s national news agency, BERNAMA, today held its annual Ramadan Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme at Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), reaffirming its commitment to community engagement while honouring the tireless efforts of healthcare frontliners.
Held at HKL’s Main Hall under the theme “Sincerely Giving, Truly Appreciating”, the initiative paid tribute to medical professionals whose dedication continues to sustain Malaysia’s public healthcare system, particularly during periods of heightened demand.
Recognising Dedication During the Holy Month
The programme, which ran from 3.00 pm to 5.00 pm, saw the distribution of 1,000 food packs to HKL personnel as a gesture of gratitude during the holy month of Ramadan. Beyond food aid, BERNAMA also extended financial assistance to selected staff members currently undergoing medical treatment, reinforcing the agency’s holistic approach to support.
A portion of the contributions will also be channelled to HKL’s Gerobok Rezeki initiative, a support mechanism that provides essential items and aid to hospital staff facing financial hardship.
In its remarks, a BERNAMA representative emphasised that the initiative was designed not merely as charity, but as an expression of solidarity.
“We believe the dedication and sacrifices of healthcare frontliners deserve the highest recognition. Through this CSR initiative, BERNAMA hopes to extend not only assistance, but also encouragement and solidarity to the dedicated staff of Hospital Kuala Lumpur.”
Strategic Partnerships Driving Impact
The success of the Ramadan CSR programme was made possible through collaboration with several strategic partners, including:
- Canon Marketing (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.
- YTL Power International Berhad
- MYDIGITAL ID Sdn. Bhd.
- Perbadanan Nasional Berhad
The partnership-driven approach reflects growing private-public collaboration in community outreach, particularly during significant cultural and religious periods such as Ramadan.
Sustaining Community Commitment
As a national news agency, BERNAMA continues to position itself not only as a disseminator of information but also as an active participant in community upliftment efforts. Its annual Ramadan CSR programme has become a key platform for recognising essential workers and reinforcing the spirit of compassion and unity.
The 2026 edition once again highlights how institutional leadership, corporate partnerships and grassroots engagement can come together to create tangible impact, especially for those who serve at the front lines of Malaysia’s healthcare system.
