Agro MADANI Sales Prove Effective in Easing Cost of Living, Terengganu Edition 2026 Draws Strong Interest

Selayang, 22 January 2026 – The Agro MADANI Sales programme continues to demonstrate its effectiveness as a high-impact national initiative to ease cost-of-living pressures. As at 31 December 2025, a total of 4,331 programmes had been successfully implemented nationwide, nearing the overall target of 5,000 programmes.

Organised by the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MAFS) through three implementing agencies, Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (FAMA), Farmers’ Organisation Authority (LPP) and Malaysian Fisheries Development Authority (LKIM), the programme aims to ensure sufficient and affordable access to fresh food supplies. It also reduces the burden of living costs through a direct-from-producer-to-consumer sales model.

RM69.63 Million in Sales, RM17.2 Million in Consumer Savings

Between 1 July and 31 December 2025, the Agro MADANI Sales programme recorded total sales of RM69.63 million. Consumers enjoyed estimated savings of RM17.20 million, as products were offered at prices significantly lower than prevailing market rates. This achievement reflects the programme’s success in reducing intermediary layers within the supply chain and stabilising prices of essential daily food items.

From an agro-economic development perspective, the programme directly benefited 49,352 entrepreneurs, including farmers, livestock breeders and agro-based food producers nationwide. Public response has been highly encouraging, with total visitor numbers reaching 4.17 million, while the overall benefits are estimated to have reached 16.33 million households, reinforcing FAMA’s role as the national leader in agricultural and agri-food marketing.

Terengganu Edition 2026 Offers Savings of Up to 30%

Building on this momentum, the Agro MADANI Sales Terengganu Edition 2026 was held on 22 January 2026 at the FAMA Headquarters compound in Selayang, from 7.30 a.m. to 3.00 p.m. The programme was officiated by Aminuddin Zulkipli, Chairman of FAMA, and was expected to attract approximately 2,000 visitors.

The event served as a dedicated marketplace for agri-food products, featuring vegetables, fruits, fish, poultry, meat, agro-based food industry products and popular Terengganu delicacies. Visitors enjoyed discounts of up to 30% compared with market prices. Key highlights included MADANI Combo Sales, special promotions on selected fresh produce, traditional Terengganu cooking demonstrations, participation by local entrepreneurs and craft product showcases.

Iconic Terengganu Products in the Spotlight

The Terengganu edition also featured special limited-time offers on iconic agri-food products from the state. Among the key attractions were Terengganu Sweet Melon, Terengganu Duku, as well as traditional foods such as fish crackers (keropok keping ikan tamban), sata, ketupat palas and other local specialities.

These offerings not only enabled consumers to purchase high-quality products at affordable prices, but also promoted Terengganu’s unique agricultural produce and food heritage to a wider audience.

Strengthening the National Agri-Food Ecosystem

The implementation of the Agro MADANI Sales Terengganu Edition 2026 aligns with the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI, by expanding access to affordable food, opening additional market opportunities for local entrepreneurs, reducing reliance on middlemen and strengthening the overall national agri-food marketing ecosystem.
