KUALA LUMPUR β In conjunction with National Day, the government will channel RM100 in Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) credit to some 22 million Malaysians aged 18 and above, with funds credited directly into their MyKad accounts starting August 31, 2025.
Eligibility can be verified through the official portal, where recipients may also check the list of participating outlets and guidelines for purchases. Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had earlier said the initiative represents the governmentβs effort to share the gains of fiscal reforms with all adult citizens, including existing SARA beneficiaries.
The Ministry of Finance added that unused balances by year-end will be reallocated to vulnerable groups through upcoming MADANI government programmes. It also highlighted that households could benefit collectively, with a family of four adults eligible for up to RM400 in total credit.
SARA credits can be used at over 7,300 registered retail outlets nationwide, covering more than 100,000 essential goods such as rice, eggs, school supplies, medicines, household items, and personal care products. Beneficiaries also have the option of supporting charitable causes by purchasing goods for NGOs or places of worship.
Authorities stressed that no registration or application is required, as eligibility is automatically determined via MyKad records from the National Registration Department. The public has also been warned to stay alert to scams, as all assistance will only be credited directly into MyKad.
With the implementation of Penghargaan SARA, the combined allocation for STR and SARA programmes has risen to RM15 billion in 2025, up 50 percent from RM10 billion in 2024.
