YTL Communications’ Yes Launches Malaysia’s First 5G Advanced Prepaid Plan

Last updated on December 25, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 16 December 2025 — YTL Communications Sdn Bhd, via its mobile service brand Yes, has rolled out Malaysia’s first 5G Advanced prepaid offering with the launch of the Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack, marking a significant step in making next-generation connectivity more accessible to prepaid users nationwide.

Chief executive officer Wing K Lee said the move positions Yes as the first telecommunications provider in Malaysia to introduce 5G Advanced technology on a prepaid plan, extending premium network capabilities beyond postpaid and broadband subscribers.

“When Yes 5G Advanced was launched in October, we upgraded all our postpaid and broadband customers to enjoy the latest world-class 5G technology at no extra cost. Today, we are bringing 5G Advanced to all prepaid customers,” Wing said in a statement.

RM10 Starter Pack with Longest Validity in Its Segment

Priced at RM10, the Yes 5G Advanced Starter Pack offers 20GB of data, uncapped speeds, and a 30-day validity period, which Yes says is the longest validity among all RM10 prepaid plans currently available in the market.

The launch underscores Yes’ strategy to democratise high-performance mobile connectivity as data consumption rises and users increasingly rely on low-latency, high-speed networks for work, entertainment and digital services.

Nationwide 5G Advanced Coverage Reaches 82.4%

Wing noted that following its initial rollout in the Klang Valley in October, Yes has now completed the deployment of 5G Advanced across its entire 5G network footprint, achieving 82.4% coverage in populated areas nationwide.

He added that this milestone reinforces Yes’ leadership position in Malaysia’s 5G landscape and further strengthens the country’s standing globally.

Malaysia is now the ninth country worldwide to deploy this pre-6G standard, highlighting the pace at which the nation is advancing its digital infrastructure.

The Ledger Asia Angle

The launch signals an intensifying race among Malaysian telcos to monetise 5G investments through mass-market adoption. By pushing 5G Advanced into the prepaid segment at an entry price of RM10, Yes is lowering barriers to next-generation connectivity, potentially accelerating data usage growth and setting new benchmarks for value-based competition in the local telecom sector.
