ShangHai Elite Entrepreneurs Book of Fame Launches Fourth Edition, Spotlighting Malaysia’s Business Legacy and CSR Leadership

Last updated on December 25, 2025

KUALA LUMPUR, 18 December 2025 — The fourth edition of the ShangHai Elite Entrepreneurs Book of Fame was officially launched at the AICB Centre of Excellence in Kuala Lumpur, bringing together more than a hundred business leaders to honour the influence, resilience, and long-term contributions of Malaysian Chinese entrepreneurs.

Published by ShangHai Business Media, the Book of Fame is Malaysia’s first authoritative compilation featuring in-depth interviews with over a hundred distinguished entrepreneurs. The fourth edition reinforces its role as both a historical record and a strategic reference, documenting entrepreneurial journeys that have shaped industries while highlighting the evolving role of businesses as engines of social and economic value creation.

Rooted in values of integrity, perseverance, and innovation, the Book of Fame captures how entrepreneurs have navigated changing economic cycles, built enduring enterprises, and contributed meaningfully to society. The publication continues to position itself as a guide and source of inspiration for Chinese business communities across the region and beyond.

Businesses as Drivers of Social Value

The launch ceremony opened with a keynote address by Mr. CM Wong, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SBS NEXUS BERHAD, who outlined the broader mission behind the Book of Fame, recognising business excellence while underscoring the social responsibility of enterprises.

Mr. Wong highlighted SBS’s collaboration with the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM) through the Lung Shield Program, describing it as a reflection of the company’s commitment to corporate social responsibility and public welfare.

“Through this collaboration, we hope to encourage more businesses to participate and collectively generate a positive impact on society,” he said.

He added that SBS is working with NCSM to plan the launch of the Book of Fame – Royal Series, aimed at recognising entrepreneurs who have made outstanding contributions in the field of CSR.

Mr. Wong also expressed appreciation to NCSM for enabling SBS to engage with a wider network of business partners, including prominent local and Bumiputera enterprises. These collaborations, he said, have strengthened SBS’s entry into the Bumiputera market, expanded its overall reach, and laid the groundwork for sustainable cross-sector partnerships.

Preserving Entrepreneurial Legacy

Mr. Tey Eng Xin, Editor-in-Chief of the fourth edition, noted that the latest volume places greater emphasis on long-term impact and legacy, documenting entrepreneurial experiences in print to ensure that lessons and values are preserved for future generations.

From an investor and leadership perspective, the book serves as a rare qualitative archive, offering insights into how founders and executives have navigated governance, growth, and succession over decades.

Strengthening Business–Society Collaboration

Dr. Murallitharan Munisamy, Chief Executive Officer of NCSM, acknowledged the business community’s long-standing role in supporting social welfare and public health. He revealed that NCSM and SBS are in ongoing discussions to develop a comprehensive branding strategy and year-round promotional initiatives to enhance NCSM’s public visibility and societal impact.

He also shared that preliminary discussions have begun with healthcare institutions across Malaysia to explore innovative branding and communication strategies within healthcare settings. This includes leveraging queue display television systems in medical facilities to deliver a mix of advertising content and health-related information. Both parties expressed optimism that formal collaboration agreements could be finalised in the coming months.

Lifetime Influence Award Recognises Corporate Stewardship

One of the evening’s most symbolic honours, the Lifetime Influence Award, was presented to Dato’ Ong Soon Ho, Non-Independent and Non-Executive Vice Chairman of HEXTAR GLOBAL BERHAD.

In his acceptance speech, Dato’ Ong reflected on his decades-long involvement in business and industry development, emphasising that entrepreneurial success should be measured not only by commercial outcomes but also by long-term societal responsibility. His remarks resonated strongly with attendees, reinforcing the growing emphasis on sustainable leadership.

Showcasing Corporate Strength Across Sectors

The fourth edition of Book of Fame features more than 70 leading Chinese-Malaysian enterprises, including listed companies such as OPTIMAX HOLDINGS BERHAD, FOODIE MEDIA BERHAD, TEAMSTAR BERHAD, KHEE SAN BERHAD, BMS HOLDINGS BERHAD, FOCUS POINT HOLDINGS BERHAD, ORIENTAL KOPI HOLDINGS BERHAD, and UNIQUE FIRE HOLDINGS BERHAD, among others.

Through personal narratives, business philosophies, and value-driven decisions, the featured entrepreneurs provide insight into how enterprises have scaled, adapted, and remained relevant across generations.

The publication recognises excellence across multiple dimensions, including Social Influence, Benchmark Influence, Era Influence, Innovation Influence, Young Influence, and New Glamor Women, as well as acknowledgements from Malaysian associations. Copies of the book will be distributed to independent Chinese schools, chambers of commerce, industry organisations, and related institutions nationwide.

The fifth edition of the Book of Fame is now open for nominations.
