KUALA LUMPUR, 28 October 2025 — NTT DATA, a global leader in digital business and IT services, has hosted its regional flagship event, 2025 Ignite, uniting thousands of business leaders, technologists, and policymakers to explore how intelligent technologies and sustainability are shaping Southeast Asia’s digital future.
As Malaysia advances its MADANI Economy and MyDIGITAL ambitions to become a regional hub for AI and innovation, 2025 Ignite arrived at a pivotal time, catalysing the turning of national strategies into enterprise transformation.
Held under the theme “Connect | Innovate | Impact,” the event focused on how artificial intelligence (AI) can transform bold ideas into meaningful progress for businesses and society alike.
“2025 Ignite marks an evolution of our journey, from inspiring digital transformation to realising true, humanised impact through AI,” said Henrick Choo, CEO of NTT DATA Malaysia. “Through our GenAI TechHub, we’re helping enterprises co-create, experiment, and scale AI use cases faster than ever. Our goal is to help Malaysian organisations innovate confidently, with responsibility, inclusion, and long-term impact at heart.”
In his keynote, Kazuhiro Gomi, President & CEO of NTT Research, Inc. (USA), shared insights on how AI can redefine industries through secure, ethical, and sustainable innovation. He highlighted that global AI systems could consume up to 134 terawatt-hours annually by 2027, equivalent to the total energy use of countries like the Netherlands or Sweden, underscoring the urgency for cleaner, more efficient computing.
In Malaysia, data centre energy consumption is expected to triple by 2027, driving the need for photonics-electronics convergence and renewable-powered AI systems to ensure sustainability in digital infrastructure.
2025 Ignite also showcased NTT DATA’s growing data and AI portfolio, including the GenAI TechHub, which enables rapid development and deployment of generative AI applications. The platform acts as a global repository of reusable GenAI prototypes, components, toolkits, and solutions, built on scalable infrastructure that integrates with leading hyperscalers such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services, and Google Cloud Platform, alongside open-source ecosystems.
The showcase extended beyond AI to include innovations in cloud, cybersecurity, and AIOps, reinforcing NTT DATA’s commitment to AI talent development and responsible innovation, both central to Malaysia’s vision of becoming a regional leader in AI governance and capability building.
A high-impact panel discussion brought together industry leaders and policymakers to explore:
- How AI is transforming Malaysia’s industries;
- The role of data trust, cybersecurity, and human-centred design in sustainable AI adoption; and the importance of cross-sector collaboration between government, private enterprises, and academia.
Building on the success of last year’s 2023 Elevate (themed Connect | Discover | Innovate), which attracted 880 participants and 414 customers from 142 organisations, 2025 Ignite further demonstrated NTT DATA’s expanding role in empowering enterprises across Malaysia and the wider Asia-Pacific region through responsible, human-centred innovation.
