KUALA LUMPUR, 17 October 2025 – Menopause Asia has officially launched with a mission to close long-standing gaps in awareness, care, and community support for women navigating perimenopause and menopause.
The initiative coincides with World Menopause Day 2025 and embraces the year’s theme of Lifestyle Medicine, underscoring how credible information, culturally relevant conversations, and supportive communities can help women approach midlife with clarity and confidence.
“Too many women are left in the dark about perimenopause and menopause. Too many are dismissed, misdiagnosed, or made to feel like they’re just stressed,” said Joanne Ho, Founder of Menopause Asia.
“I didn’t build Menopause Asia because I had the answers; I built it because I couldn’t find any. We want to make sure women don’t go through it alone. We’re building a space that combines clinically guided care, cultural understanding, and community support.”
The launch opened with “Seen at Midlife”, a striking sound-and-visual brand experience that set the tone for Menopause Asia’s mission: to see, support, and celebrate women through one of life’s most pivotal stages.
A Programme that Wove Together Science, Storytelling, and Support
The event featured three intimate conversations, each exploring a unique dimension of the midlife journey:
- Menopause Fundamentals: What’s Happening to Our Bodies, led by Dr Kaur, Founder of Freya D’Wellness, grounded the audience in the science of perimenopause and menopause, addressing common symptoms and misconceptions. “Menopause care needs to be personalised to each woman, to address her unique symptoms. No one size fits all,” said Dr Sangeet.
- Beyond One-Size-Fits-All Menopause Care, with Sarah Abdullah, President of MCPG and MEDISCA Australia, focused on personalised approaches ranging from hormonal treatments to lifestyle adjustments. “The most important thing for any woman is to find a healthcare provider who can be your friend, with whom you can openly share your symptoms so that you can receive care that is personalised to you,” Sarah shared.
- Redefining Midlife: Career, Identity & Emotional Well-being, with Ooi Ying Nee, Founder of Commas PR, and Michele Sagan, CEO of Optimal Insights, explored identity, career evolution, and emotional well-being in midlife, calling for visibility and more inclusive workplace policies. “We need organisations that have inclusive policies that allow employees to be vulnerable and honest about the challenges they face,” said Sagan.
Adding a dose of humour and relatability, comedian Joanne Kam delivered Malaysia’s first stand-up comedy set on menopause, a refreshing and unfiltered take on ageing and identity. Her segment invited laughter while encouraging open conversations, serving as a prelude to her upcoming show in 2026.
A Movement, Not Just a Moment
With its official launch, Menopause Asia seeks to normalise midlife health conversations across Malaysia and beyond. As a digital platform, it connects women with licensed doctors, evidence-based medical resources, and supportive communities, all while reflecting the cultural nuances that shape women’s lived experiences.
“Menopause Asia is not just about symptoms. It’s about visibility, dignity, and a future where every woman feels supported,” said Ho. “We want women to know they are seen, heard, and never alone.”
Looking ahead, Menopause Asia will prioritise “Menopause at the Workplace”, a structured programme designed to help organisations better support women through awareness sessions, HR training, and inclusive policy consultation.
By framing menopause as both a workforce and leadership issue, the initiative aims to catalyse lasting change in how companies engage, retain, and empower experienced female talent.
