Malaysia Concludes World Wushu Championships with Five Gold Medals in Brazil

KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia’s national wushu team closed the 17th World Wushu Championships in Brasília, Brazil, on a high, finishing with a total of five golds, one silver and two bronze medals.

On the final day of competition, the women’s trio of Tan Cheong Min, Lee Jia Rong, and Pang Pui Yee clinched the gold in the duilian event, scoring 9.630 points.

Italy followed closely with 9.623 points for silver, while Hong Kong earned bronze with 9.613 points.

Men’s team adds bronze

In the men’s duilian event, the Malaysian trio of Clement Ting Su Wei, Si Shin Peng, and Bryan Ti Kai Jie delivered a strong performance to secure the bronze medal with 9.613 points.

The gold medal went to Macau with 9.620 points, while Hong Kong was awarded silver despite recording the same score due to a lower degree of difficulty.

A strong overall finish

The final tally underscores a successful campaign for Malaysia, with the team’s five gold medals cementing its reputation as a rising wushu powerhouse on the global stage.
