InterContinental Halong Bay Resort Opens in Vietnam’s UNESCO World Heritage Site

QUANG NINH, Vietnam, 22 October 2025 — InterContinental Hotels & Resorts has opened the InterContinental Halong Bay Resort, marking the brand’s debut in one of Vietnam’s most recognisable destinations and UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Situated in the Ha Long Marina Urban Area near Bai Chay, the resort extends the InterContinental legacy as the world’s first and largest international luxury hotel brand.

Located along Vietnam’s northeastern coast, the resort serves as a gateway to Ha Long Bay’s cultural and natural landscapes. Guests can engage in curated activities that highlight local heritage, including pottery workshops, visits to floating fishing villages, ethical pearl cultivation, and excursions to centuries-old temples and pagodas.

“The InterContinental brand has been welcoming travellers for nearly 80 years,” said Jesper Larsen, General Manager of InterContinental Halong Bay Resort. “Establishing a presence in Ha Long Bay allows us to connect guests with Vietnam’s cultural richness and natural beauty while maintaining the brand’s hallmark of refined service and meaningful experiences.”

Designed by global architecture firm WATG with interiors by P49Deesign, the resort draws inspiration from Vietnam’s maritime traditions. Its structures incorporate local materials and design motifs reminiscent of bamboo basket boats and the colours of the surrounding land and sea.

The property includes 275 guestrooms, suites, villas, and residences, each with views of Ha Long Bay and interiors featuring turquoise tones, brass details, and pearl-inspired finishes.

The resort offers six dining venues. Among them are Marina Kitchen, specialising in modern coastal cuisine; La Baguette, a French-Vietnamese bistrot; Del Mar, a poolside bar inspired by the floating village of Cửa Vạn; and Vue, a lobby lounge serving afternoon tea and cocktails.

Two additional signature restaurants are scheduled to open soon: Roku & Star Bar in late 2025, which will showcase Japanese cuisine and a rooftop Sake Library; and Yulong Mansion in 2026, offering modern Cantonese dishes and traditional tea ceremonies.

The Hidden Lagoon Spa takes cues from the tranquillity of Ha Long Bay, providing treatments in collaboration with British and Australian wellness brands Margaret Dabbs London and Sodashi. Facilities include three swimming pools, beach volleyball courts, and an outdoor archery range. Family-oriented amenities include the Planet Trekkers kids’ club and The Game Room, which features a cinema and indoor games.

The resort also features event spaces such as the Tonkin Ballroom and Cat Ba Ballroom, designed for weddings, conferences, and private functions. To support guest wellbeing and travel recovery, the property integrates a nutrition programme and offers access to Timeshifter, a jet lag management app.

Located two hours from Hanoi, InterContinental Halong Bay Resort serves as a base for exploring key attractions such as Bai Tho Mountain, Sung Sot Cave and Bao Hai Linh Thong Pagoda. It joins 231 InterContinental properties worldwide, including seven in Vietnam, within IHG Hotels & Resorts’ growing luxury and lifestyle portfolio.
