Bursa Malaysia warns investors of scam letters misusing its name and logo

KUALA LUMPUR, 9 January 2026 — Bursa Malaysia Berhad has issued a public warning urging investors to remain vigilant after scammers were found misusing Bursa Malaysia’s name and logo on fake letterheads to mislead the public.

In an advisory shared on its official channels, Bursa Malaysia cautioned that the fraudulent letters were not issued by the Exchange and may be used to deceive investors into making payments or disclosing personal and financial information.

Investors are advised to exercise extreme caution and to conduct thorough due diligence before engaging in any financial transactions or responding to documents claiming to originate from Bursa Malaysia.

Bursa Malaysia emphasised that all official communications from the Exchange will only be issued through verified and authorised channels, and that members of the public should be wary of unsolicited correspondence, especially those requesting payments or sensitive details.

What to do if you encounter suspicious activity

Bursa Malaysia advised investors who encounter suspicious letters or communications to take the following steps:

Phone: +603-2732 0067
Provide supporting evidence: Include a screenshot of the suspicious document and the source where it was received
