KUALA LUMPUR, 23 September 2025 – Bursa Malaysia has successfully hosted the inaugural Burmon x Pickleball Tournament, a unique initiative under its Bursa Smart Moves programme, bringing together financial literacy and physical fitness to nurture a well-rounded generation of Malaysian youth.
Held at the KWC Pickleball Stadium, the event saw more than 400 students from 12 schools across Selangor, Putrajaya, and Kuala Lumpur participating in the first rounds, with over 100 students competing in the Grand Finale. The initiative combined two components: the Burmon Financial Literacy Competition via the interactive Burmon Trader platform, and a Pickleball Tournament to encourage healthy and active lifestyles.
Two Worlds, One Goal

In her opening remarks, Stephanie Tan, Head of Investor Strategy and Development at Bursa Malaysia, highlighted the shared values between the two disciplines.
“Through Burmon Trader, students sharpen their minds. Through Pickleball, they strengthen their bodies. This is the combination we want—a young generation that is both sharp-minded and strong-bodied.”
She added that the Burmon x Pickleball Tournament is part of Bursa’s broader efforts to integrate financial literacy into youth development while promoting balance in physical health, echoing the aspirations of Malaysia MADANI and the National Sports Vision 2030.
Shaping Balanced Leaders of Tomorrow

Encik Mohd Sofian Hamzah, Deputy Director-General of the National Sports Council (NSC), commended Bursa Malaysia for spearheading the initiative.
“Victory is not only in trophies or medals, but in the knowledge, values, and experiences you bring home.”
He stressed that financial literacy is a vital life skill, while sports instill discipline, teamwork, and resilience. Together, the two foster confident, competitive, and well-rounded future leaders.
Structured Learning, Free Access
Students prepared for the tournament with two months of workshops and clinics, including Burmon Trader training sessions and Pickleball coaching by professionals. Bursa Malaysia also announced that participating schools will receive free access to the Burmon Trader platform and Pickleball equipment, ensuring continuity beyond the competition.
