KUALA LUMPUR, 14 November 2025 – YTL Cement Group has pledged to donate 70,000 trees to Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL), reinforcing its commitment to building cleaner, more liveable and sustainable cities. The initiative reflects the Group’s aspiration of Helping Nations Build Greener and marks a major contribution to Kuala Lumpur’s long-term environmental agenda.
Announced during the KL Park Festival 2025 at Taman Tasik Titiwangsa, where YTL Cement was also appointed a Strategic Partner of Local Agenda 21 Kuala Lumpur (LA21KL), the initiative was officiated by Kuala Lumpur Mayor, Dato’ Seri TPr. Dr Maimunah Mohd Sharif, alongside senior representatives from the Group.
YTL Cement’s partnership with DBKL will support two key sustainability efforts. The first is the donation of 70,000 trees to strengthen the city’s biodiversity and climate resilience. The second is the Bintang Cemerlang programme, a collaboration between YTL Cement, DBKL, and UCSI University, which offers academic coaching, teacher development, and creative learning opportunities for students from 22 Sentul-based schools, aimed at nurturing long-term potential among underserved children.
Local Agenda 21 Kuala Lumpur (LA21KL) champions collaboration between local authorities, private sector partners, and communities to co-design sustainable urban development. YTL Cement’s appointment as a Strategic Partner underscores its alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities), Goal 13 (Climate Action), Goal 15 (Life on Land), and Goal 17 (Partnerships).
Reflecting LA21KL’s 4P model, Public, Private, People, Partnership, the initiative embodies collaborative action to create lasting environmental and social impact.
Both the tree donation and the Bintang Cemerlang programme fall under BUILDS, YTL Cement’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm. These efforts highlight the Group’s commitment to nation-building, supporting Malaysia’s infrastructure growth while uplifting communities and strengthening environmental stewardship.
