Malaysia Showcases Net-Zero Leadership at COP30 with Malaysia Pavilion

BELÉM, 12 November 2025 – Malaysia officially unveiled the Malaysia Pavilion at COP30, reaffirming its commitment to tackling the global climate crisis and achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The Pavilion, themed ‘Climate Action Now: Net Zero Pathways Unlocked,’ brings together government, industry, and civil society voices to advance climate action through strong governance, private sector engagement, and regional collaboration.

Building on COP29 in Baku, where Malaysia championed the “Shift for Sustainability – Climate Action Now!” narrative, COP30 highlights the nation’s continued progress, including biodiversity preservation, nature-based solutions, climate justice for vulnerable communities, adaptation finance, and balancing conservation with sustainable development.

The Pavilion spotlights five key thematic areas: restoring rainforests, rivers, and reefs; energy transition pathways for developing nations; climate justice in the Global South; future-proofing water, food systems, and industry; and unlocking finance for net-zero.

Over ten days, it will host high-level dialogues, panels, report launches, and collaborative sessions, covering topics from ecosystem safeguarding and adaptation in action to the energy transition and financing a sustainable future. Key national and international stakeholders participating include Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), UN SDSN, Pos Malaysia, Yinson Holdings, Sunway Centre for Planetary Health, Amanah Lestari Alam (ALAM), SPAN, Air Selangor, World Bank, and Universiti Malaya.

Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability (NRES), Datuk Nor Yahati binti Awang, said:

“As COP30 calls for an ‘Implementation COP,’ Malaysia moves decisively from pledges to measurable action, driving transformative change to achieve carbon neutrality and secure a sustainable future.”

The Pavilion is spearheaded by NRES with the Malaysian Green Technology and Climate Change Corporation (MGTC), supported by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Maybank.

Malaysia’s Pavilion also demonstrates the country’s commitment to technology-driven climate solutions. Innovations such as renewable energy projects, smart water management systems, and sustainable urban development models are showcased, emphasising practical pathways to decarbonisation. Delegates can explore interactive exhibits illustrating Malaysia’s progress in low-carbon technologies, alongside opportunities for regional collaboration in green innovation.

Education and youth engagement are central to the Pavilion’s mission. Workshops and mentoring sessions aim to empower young climate leaders with knowledge and tools to drive sustainability initiatives at local and national levels. By connecting students, innovators, and policymakers, Malaysia fosters a culture of climate-conscious leadership that extends beyond the COP platform.

The Pavilion further strengthens Malaysia’s position as a regional climate hub. By highlighting cross-sector partnerships between the public, private, and civil society, the initiative underscores a ‘whole-of-nation’ and ‘whole-of-region’ approach to climate action. The platform provides a blueprint for ASEAN nations to accelerate collective climate solutions while ensuring equitable growth and resilience for vulnerable communities.
